Our Story
The idea for One Beat® came about in 2021, when our founder John Smith was setting up his new home office. He needed power strips and surge protectors to plug in his computer, monitor, printer, lamp, and more. However, John found shopping for these basic electronics surprisingly difficult and expensive.
The selection at local stores was limited. What they did have tended to be cheap models with short cords and only a few outlets. Going to big box retailers or shopping online presented the opposite problem – too many choices without an easy way to identify quality products. Prices also varied wildly, from cheap uncertified power strips to expensive commercial-grade protectors.
John realized there had to be a better way. He envisioned a company that could provide simple, affordable access to essential electronics that just work. The name One Beat captures that vision. It represents the syncing up of electricity and electronics into a unified rhythm that powers our lives.
Armed with this inspiration, John researched manufacturers and designed a line of thoughtfully engineered power, charging and surge protection products. He focused on maximizing usefulness, durability, safety and value.
In January 2022, One Beat® opened its online store, directly selling products to consumers. This allowed us to cut out retailer markups and pass the savings on to our customers. It also let us gather feedback to continuously improve our offerings.
